So if you remember one of my earlier blogs you'll know that a very important date has passed. November 12. The day I got to see Madonna in concert. Screeeeeech...rewind. Let's back up to November 10. I get a call from Cheryl (who was my concert buddy on the 12th) asking if I wanted to see Madonna on the 11th...for free! I think my exact response was "are you shitting me?" Cheryl's friend, Jennifer, was at Cheryl's house when she got the call that her husband got a hold of four free tickets. We met for dinner at the Wynkoop and then headed over to the Pepsi Center for an 8:00 PM start. A dj came on at 8:00. This apparently was the elusive "opening act" that everyone was asking about. Don't get me wrong, he was a superb dj however a dj doesn't hold a crowd's attention in a place that big. He exits stage left around 8:30 and Madonna doesn't come on stage until after 9:30. We were starting to get pissed and it was such a buzz kill. But we rallied once she started performing.
Cheryl and I had a MUCH better time on Wednesday night! I think it was a combination of things. Our seats were a little better and we were completely surrounded by people who stood and danced and sang the whole night (unlike the night before). I had a different attitude. I was able to take more in seeing as I was experiencing it for a second time and she started on time. So overall, I'm a happy woman and can check this off of my list.
Some highlights:
-The women (yes women, not woman) dressed like Madonna in the Like a Virgin video (who should NOT be dressed as such)
-The two women in front of us the first night dressed in the most gawd-awful dresses I've ever seen. You would think they were doing it to be crazy or something but I'm pretty darn sure they thought they were looking hot.
-All the middle-aged men that were dragged to the concert by their wives.
Some lowlights:
-Madonna playing a guitar. Stick to what you know...dancing, singing, and gyrating that fabulous ass of yours. She is in amazing shape!
-Barack Obama flashing across the screen during one of her costume changes. I'm not saying either way whether I support Obama or not however leave the political crap out of your show. The election is over, I don't want to see his (or any other politicians) face until January.
