Josh and Meg's Wedding

Josh and Meg tied the knot on August 15th in Lake Placid, NY. It was a fabulous weekend! Dave and I took the red eye Thursday night so we could spend as much time there as possible. We flew into Burlington, VT and took the ferry across Lake Champlain. It was a beautiful, scenic drive. Friday we just chilled and reconnected with friends that I haven't seen since I graduated college. Josh and Meg rented a house for the weekend. It is where we stayed, where they got married and where we celebrated. This made for a very easy, enjoyable time for us! Mason's birthday was on Friday so we had his favorite...cheesecake! We went out for dinner and then came back to the house to party. Saturday was a gorgeous day. Mom and I went to get our hair done which was the only time I left the house. It was very weird to be in Lake Placid but not be there. Josh and I went to Northwood School in LP which is one of the many reasons they chose to get married there. Our English teacher, Steven "Reno" Reed is still there and he performed the ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony and I loved what they each said to the other. I, of course, shed a tear or two. I'm so happy they are together. The boys love Meg and it's obvious she loves them too.

Land ho!

Each room in the house had a different theme. Ours was the cowboy room (notice the saddle behind Owen?).

Lola and Owen - best buds

Two 60-somethings trying to read and/or figure out how to use the phone. It was like the blind leading the blind.

Owen's favorite toy of the weekend. The best was when he brought it out at the reception and then Josh put it on. It went from a rectangle to a circle at that point.

Owen, Chris and Eric (who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes) in the background. Anita - I'm thinking of you as I post this picture. :)

Dave, Mum and Dud

One of my favorite pictures (partly because the fact that Josh is smiling, he never smiles for pictures).Tyler, Dud, Mason, Owen, Josh and Seth. Let me just embarrass myself for a minute. I have not see Seth since my wedding which was six years ago. In my defense, boys go through a lot of changes between the ages of 10 and 16. I walked in the house and Seth was there with his girlfriend. I went ahead and introduced myself because I didn't recognize him!! Good thing he has a sense of humor.

There aren't even words to describe how funny I think this is. Owen is just way beyond his years.
Meg's father passed away about five years ago. In the middle of the reception they had all of the guests move to the front lawn and we each received a sparkler to light in memory of Joe and so that he could see us from where he is. It was very touching.Josh danced all night long. I've never seen him dance more than two minutes before.

Oh dear.

Sadly, I have no evidence of this but towards the end of the reception, there was a dance off between Josh and Meg's sister, Laura, to Beyonce's Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It). I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time. Let's just say white boy can't dance.
