As you know we celebrate Dave's birthday on June 23rd. Well, all of us except one person...his best friend Alex. I think it might have to do with the fact that until fairly recently he and Dave were never in the same state for his birthday so I think he's now making up for it. So Alex decides he wants to take Dave to the rock climbing gym for his birthday. I haven't been in years so I was thrilled at the chance. I'm also thrilled that Dave got to use the climbing shoes I got him for his birthday when we were in Lake Placid 4 1/2 years ago and until yesterday had gone unused. So the three of us plus Alex's girlfriend Ahnchi, and another friend, Ben, head out in the snow (yes, we're going to have a white Christmas, yipee!) up to Rockin n Jamin. Dave enjoyed bouldering while I stayed on the rock climbing wall. We had a great time even though afterwards we couldn't open the car door or dry our hands off or cut up our dinner or basically do anything that required the use of our forearms.
Side note: on the way home on I-25 it didn't appear to be bad driving conditions however we found out just how slick the road was when a car started to switch into our lane without looking. Once they noticed us right there next to them they swerved back into their lane but then kept swerving and ended up doing a complete 360 right there on the highway. Someone was watching out for them as no one, not one car hit them. They ended up on the far right shoulder and I think they must've sat there for a minute trying to figure out if they had an extra pair of pants in the back seat.
