My surgery last Thursday went well. Everyone (and the care I received) at Rose Surgical Center was amazing! They ended up removing part of the meniscus because where the tear was, one flap had curled forward and the other flap had curled backward and I guess it wasn't repairable. Apparently about 15 minutes after the surgery ended, my doctor asked me how I was doing and I said "spec-tac-u-lar"! And then I said "those are some good drugs you guys have". Why I think this is so funny is that I never use the word "spectacular" so I have no idea where that came from. Of course I don't remember any of this. Later when the doctor asked if I remembered the conversation I said "no" and after they told me what I said I asked if my eyes were open. I couldn't believe that I carried on a conversation without knowing it and anesthesia makes you say weird things (both when your conscious and unconscious). All in all I'm doing pretty good. Still using crutches to get around but my mom is here and I think Dave might be more relieved than I am. He was awesome and very patient all weekend but now he has a ton of work to catch up on so he's glad he can do that. Thanks mum for coming out...you're the best!!
This is pre-surgery. I asked Dave if I looked sexy in the hairnet. I had to open my big mouth...of course when you ask something like that you're going to get your picture taken.
This is me feeling spectacular afterwards.
This is three days after the surgery. Like my stockings? They go all the way up to my knees. I have to wear them until the 7th! Dave thinks they make us wear them so we stay off our feet because I don't know one female that would be caught dead wearing these in public.
Sorry for the blood. When I look at my left knee, it doesn't seem too bad...until I compare it to knobby (my right knee).
