The Green Monster
You all have probably heard me talk about my garden. I decided to start a vegetable garden this year in our back yard and I think I was a little too ambitious. I way overplanted and now I hyperventilate whenever I have to go water (which is every day) because I can hardly see the base of the plant through all those leaves. The plants in the foreground in the first picture are called patty pan and for such a small vegetable they are producing the biggest plants out of the bunch, go figure. They must have "short guy syndrome". Not worth it in my opinion since I've only picked one so far. So out they came (I did leave a couple). Plus they were shading my poor watermelon plant. I'm growing peppers, watermelon, patty pan, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber and snow peas all in this little 8' x 16' area. I told you I was a little overzealous. So needless to say, if anyone is hankering any of the above just let me know or better yet, stop by and pick it yourself...it'll save me the hassle. Seriously though, if I'm meeting you for happy hour or whatever and you'd like something definitely let me know!! I'll have more tomatoes and zucchinis than I know what to do with. I guess that llama poop (what I used as the manure) really worked! Now don't you want some of my tasty treats?

Found a recipe in Bon Appetit you might like:
Blistered Baby Zucchini, Baby Pattypan Squash, & Grilled Tomatoes.
Olive oil (for brushing)
2 cups yellow and green baby pattypan squash (9-10 oz)
6 baby zucchini
6 medium tomatoes, halved through cores
Prepare barbecue (high heat)
Brush grill rack with oil. Brush pattypan squash, zucchini, and tomatoes with olive oil: sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Grill until veggies are blistered and slightly charred, about 8 min. for squash and zucchini, turning occassionally and about 6 miutes for tomatoes, shifting occasionally. Transfer to platter.
