Another Ice Cream Post

Ice cream is one of the things prescribed by my doctor (I'm not kidding. I love my doctor.) and since our Dean of Culinary Arts found out he's been giving me all sorts of tips. First the Honey Bee ice cream I posted about earlier. Now...now...I'm speechless.

There's a brand out there called Graeter's and it is the best ice cream I've ever had. It's from Ohio and it used to only be sold locally however they are now selling their ice cream through Kroger brand stores (King Sooper's for you Coloradans). All I have to say for you non-Coloradans is that I'm sorry you're missing out on this experience and next time you come to visit I will be sure to have Graeter's on hand. When you try it, you have to get the "chip" ones (i.e. Mint Chocolate Chip, Mocha Chocolate Chip, Toffee Chocolate Chip, etc.). I'm sure the others are great too but it's the chocolate chip that makes this ice cream so fabulous.

Let me tell you why it's so great. First of all, it's not jammed up with all those unnatural, unpronounceable ingredients. Secondly, the chip forming process produces little chunks here, big chunks there. They pour ganache into the ice cream as it's mixing so when it hits it freezes and therefore inconsistent pieces of chocolate are formed. The chocolate is so creamy and smooth I just can't stand it. It's so good I bought a pint to keep at work. Excuse me now while I go enjoy a little slice of heaven...
